Emmaus Terry ( emmaus@menwithvoices.com )
Emmaus Terry was born July 12th, 1982 at Phenix Regional Hospital in Phenix City, Alabama. He is the last child of Stanley and Zelda Terry. Emmaus has two older brothers Jerwayne and Joshua and one sister Nakia Williams. At an early age Emmaus was introduced to music by his dad Stanley Terry. Before Emmaus could talk well, his Dad taught him to sing. At an early age he watched his Dad play the guitar and became interested in playing. His Dad began to teach him to play but unfortunately his interest in the guitar began to fade.
In the coming years of Emmaus' life, his older brothers Jerwayne and Joshua who had gone off to boarding school years earlier formed an acappella singing group known as the Last Call. At the age of twelve Emmaus joined the group. They sang at church functions, weddings, and family reunions. The group sang together for about a year and a half then dispersed when two of the members moved away to pursue new careers.
In 1996 Emmaus began to take piano lessons at Sumbry's School of Music. Its there that he was training to become a classical pianist, but once again his interest wondered. After one year of lessons he decided that piano was not something that he wanted to pursue. As Emmaus became older his interests changed from music to sports and cars, but as time went by, he could not resist the urge of the calling by God to the music ministry. At the age of sixteen his dad convinced him to start playing the bass guitar. Emmaus enjoyed it so much that he saved up his own money and bought his own instrument, a four string Peavey precision bass guitar.
During the years to come Emmaus has become bass player, singer, and co-writer for the group MEN WITH VOICES. He is also working hard to become a more prevalent lead singer.
In the many years of singing, Emmaus has discovered that the secret of success is through the path that God has set for him.
