Jerwayne Terry was born september 2nd, 1978 at Uchee Pines Institute in Seale, Alabama. Jerwayne has been humming since the age of two and has been a lover of music ever since he can remember. His mother remembers that "Jesus keep me near the cross" was his favorite hymn and she would often find him in his crib humming a tune all to himself.
By the age of five his mother and father had him and his siblings singing in family worship at home, leading out in scripture songs that they wrote from the Bible, later teaching them how to harmonize with one another to create a melodious background. They began to sing at area churches, shelters, and other family functions.
By the age of 10, Jerwayne was interested in all types of instruments including the harmonica, the saxophone, the trumpet and the guitar. Since he did not have access to all of these instruments his Dad promised to teach him how to play the guitar. When he was unable to learn the guitar in the time frame that he wanted, his interests veered elsewhere. Besides playing with his pet cat Smokey, he began to draw, play basketball and work out, but nothing was as fulfilling to him as his first love, music.
At the age of 15 Jerwayne and his brother Joshua were sent to Mississippi to boarding school. There was a piano in the house where they were living and it was there that he learned to play his first song. While residing there, he and his brother started a singing group with two of their housemates that were also brothers. The atmosphere of music at their school deepened Jewayne's desire to be a musician and after one year of school, he and his bother returned home and began actively working on their musical skills.
It was then that they formed the group that is now "Men With Voices." Jerwayne is a writer, co-writer, lead keyboardist, pianist and arranger of songs. He leads many of the vocals for the group along with his brother Joshua. Over the years he has found that singing gospel music allows him to maintain a close relationship with God.
