A CHRIST CENTERED HOME AWAY FROM HOME

CLICK FOR VIDEO INTRODUCTION

Lift Up Your Eyes And Look On The Fields- There are approximately 2,000,000 young men and women in the service of our country. This is a vast mission field, white unto harvest.

Our Servicemen's Centers are "LIGHTHOUSES" beaming forth the gospel message of God's Redeeming grace.

Thousands of servicemen come from other countries to America for training. Many of them are saved in our Center's and return to their own country, taking the gospel to their people

Our Servicemen’s Centers are poised and ready to present the life changing gospel to those who serve in the military.

OUR HISTORY

Early in 1941 when war for our nation was on the horizon, God moved on the heart of a young pastor who was ministering in a town 40 miles from Chanute Field, near Rantoul, Illinois. He knew that war was inevitable, that thousands of the young men roaming the streets of Rantoul would be shipped overseas after their training, and that many of them would not be coming home.

With feet planted on Jer. 33:3 Bro. Crockett launched out by faith and leased a piece of ground and started building what was to be the first existing servicemen' center. When the attack on Pearl Harbor occured, the service center was well underway. During those war years, the Center doors were never closed, day or night. Thousands of souls were led to Christ before they went out to face the battle.

A WORD FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

George Thorpe

Welcome to our Web Sight!

“. . . Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” John 4:35

Jesus was talking about a spiritual harvest of souls, and now, 2,000 years later, we still have the fields and there is still a shortage of workers to labor in the harvest. We can see the many fields all around us; children, prisons, nursing homes, foreign peoples, college campuses, rescue missions, radio audiences, gangs, neighborhoods, etc. The field that God has placed our workers in is among the military, and it has always been a very productive harvest in peace time, but especially during war time. This military field is broken up and scattered around the nation and the world. I believe the Apostle Paul labored in this military field for a time also as a prisoner  in the first servicemen’s center (a Roman jail) Acts 28:16-31.

Every time that I hear of a Navy jet crashing, an Army helicopter going down, a military barracks being hit, a roadside bomb taking lives, or a sniper killing a marine, I can’t help wondering how many of those killed are now with the Lord. Too few, I fear. Oh, how we need to reach more servicemen and servicewomen with the gospel message. I still believe that military people are some of the most reachable with the gospel.

We see the characteristics of the last days (2 Tim. 3:1-9) increasing all around us, and we feel that the time to work is short, but we don’t know just how short. God’s door of opportunity (Rev.3:8) is still open to reach the lost, and I am excited. I don’t know of any other time in history that I would rather live in. Yes, these are exciting times, even when the devil is doing his best to upset many soul-winning ministries. We are in a real spiritual warfare (Eph 6:11, 12), so, Lord help us to stay focused on using our spiritual defenses.

Pray that we will have the heart of Jesus as we labor in the Military fields, and that we will view them with love and compassion. We need your help, too. Pray for us as we labor in the Centers, and if you would like to have a part with us financially, certainly you would be laying up treasures in heaven.

That we might be laborers together,

George L. Thorpe, HTCS USN (Ret.)

P.S. Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you,

Jesus Christ and the American G.I.

One died for your soul; the other for your freedom.
