FORT BENNING CENTER
In July 2001 God made it very clear that Bob & Becky Ingram would leave Scottsville, KY where Bob was pastoring the Berean Baptist Church to become missionaries with Christian Service Center’s Inc at Ft. Benning, Georgia. A search was begun in earnest to look for a suitable building. After looking at what seemed to be endless buildings the property at 2400 Ft. Benning Road was settled upon. Remodeling began in full force in February 2002 and on July 13, 2002 we were open and ready for our first soldier. It was only a few weeks until we saw our first soldier come to Christ.
In the years since we began ministry here God has opened many doors of opportunity for us. Because of the nature of the training at Ft. Benning, the average soldier is with us at the Freedom House only six weeks. During that time we try to plant the seed of the word of God in each heart. We do this with weekly Bible studies, fellowship and lots of homemade cookies. A little bit of Fatherly and Motherly love goes a long way.
There are several other opportunities of ministry that God has opened here. One of them is Bible studies on post. These soldiers are in training and voluntarily come to be refreshed in the word of God. Many soldiers accept Christ as their Saviour each week. There is the potential of hundreds each year accepting Christ as a direct result of these Bible studies.
Freedom Ranch Retreat Center is another opportunity of ministry that is available. During basic training the soldiers are given a 36 hour pass during which time they are required to leave post. A small cabin on 50 acres has been opened up for our use to house these young men during this time. They are able to use cell phones to call home, fish, play basketball, football, horseshoes and just relax while there. This gives us the opportunity to have several Bible studies during which time the soldiers are told about the gift Christ has so freely given on Calvary.
As time goes on, we have no way of telling what God has in store for us here at the Freedom House but we are excited to see it unfold. Your prayers and financial support are imperative to our future. Please do pray for us, and if God lays something on your heart in our behalf, be obedient. Only in eternity will we know the full extent of our efforts and gifts to our Lord.
